There are many people who are hardworking. Look around you. Try to observe in your workplace, in your village, in the market. You can see that many people are indeed hardworking.
I salute them for working hard to provide the needs of their families. To achieve also their personal goals in life. Whatever reasons they have, they are working hard to attain those. What drives them to continue doing what they are doing despite the hardship? They never let go of their dreams. That one day it will become a reality. They never lose hope that someday, somehow they will achieve it.
Working Hard Alone Is Not Enough
But working hard alone is not enough. You need also to work smart. These two should be in tandem to achieve whatever goals you have in life. No matter how hard you work but if you don’t work smart, success may still be beyond your reach.
Why? You and I do not have all the time in this world. We grow old. And as we grow older, our energy becomes less. Your capability to do things will be less in the same period of time compared when you are younger.
Working hard is sometimes doing things without thoroughly thinking or making a strategic approach in advance. You are maybe a hard worker, but the things that you are doing now may not be necessarily in align with what you want to become in the future.
Working hard alone can drain your energy. Doing those important things may take longer than it should be because you did not plan ahead on how you should do it. Working harder each time will sap your motivation and your desire to continue since you only see small progress with a big effort.
You Need Also To Work Smart
That is why you should also need to work smart. Working smart is doing things efficiently and effectively. Giving priority to the things that will eventually lead to your success. Working smart saves you time and energy. The time and energy that you can utilize to do other important things thus making you more productive.
You carefully plan on how to achieve your goals in a shorter time with less exertion. You do this by utilizing all the available resources around you.
However, if you only work smart and not hard. Becoming successful may still out of your reach. Yes, you may have the best strategy. You were able to look for ways on how to fully maximize your time and energy. That’s good. But if you do not put those plans into action and do not exert much effort, it is still meaningless.
Don’t Just Work Harder, Work Smarter Too
In the earlier time, we heard that in order to be successful one must work very hard to achieve it. It is not totally wrong at all. When you ask successful people, they indeed work hard to achieve it.
However, some people do not agree with it. They said that you should not work harder but work smarter. I believe this is also correct. You must utilize efficiently and effectively all the resources you have.
But what will happen if you combine the two of them? You don’t just work harder, you work smarter too. You give all your best and at the same time having a strategic approach to how you are going to attain your goals.
Imagine, instead of using only one weapon you are using two. Of course, it will not give you a hundred percent guarantee that you will become successful. There are still many factors that play a vital role. But you are able to increase the chance of becoming one. It gives you an edge to the other people who are just either working hard or working smart. So, to increase the odds of being successful? Don’t just work harder, work smarter too.
